Facial Cleansing
Removal of sebum, dead cells and grime, so that the pores can breathe and your products can work. Three techniques — we choose on the basis of your skin.
Why cleansing at home is not enough
Sebum, dead cells and the day's grime collect inside the pores. What you do at home reaches the surface; cleansing in the treatment room reaches further down.
It is not a luxury and it is not a ritual. It is the base on which everything else you put on your face works.
The three techniques
- ✓Deep classic cleansing — the steam (vaper) opens the pores and extraction of sebum follows, by hand or with a special tool. At the end come soothing masks and high-frequency current for disinfection. It is the most thorough and the most demanding.
- ✓Hydrodermabrasion — a more modern and painless method. With water and special solutions, exfoliation, cleansing and hydration happen at the same time.
- ✓Ultrasonic cleansing — an ultrasonic spatula shakes the grime out of the pores, with no pressure. We prefer it on sensitive skin that reddens easily.
There is no better and worse. There is the one your own skin can take today.
What you gain
- ✓Fewer blackheads — the blocked pores empty and their appearance improves.
- ✓Better absorption — the creams and serums you use at home work far better on clean skin.
- ✓Radiance — the skin immediately looks brighter and smoother.
How often
The frequency is not the same for everyone and it is not set by how you feel, but by your skin type.
| Skin type | Indicative frequency |
|---|---|
| Oily, with a tendency to blackheads | every 2–3 months |
| Normal or dry | 1–2 times a year, usually at the change of seasons |
These are indicative. At your session we see how the skin reacted and adjust the next appointment.
The first 24 hours
- Mild irritation
The skin may be red and sensitive for about a day. That is to be expected.
- No make-up
Avoid it on the same day. The pores are open and we do not want them blocked again straight away.
- Sunscreen, without fail
The skin comes out more sensitive to the sun. After a cleanse it is not optional.
- No exfoliation
Do not add a scrub or active products in the days immediately afterwards. Let the skin settle.
What cleansing does not do
Where it stops
It does not treat acne. Acne is a medical matter and needs a dermatologist. Cleansing improves the look of the skin and can work as a complement, nothing more.
It does not permanently shrink the pores. Their size is largely a matter of genes. What changes is that they empty and show less.
It does not replace daily care at home. If cleansing is the only thing you do, the result will be lost quickly.
It is not permanent. Sebum builds up again, which is why we talk about frequency and not about a single time.
Questions & Answers
What most people ask, answered briefly and clearly.
Which type suits me?
We judge that in person. On oily skin with many blemishes we usually go for deep cleansing, on sensitive skin that reddens easily we prefer ultrasound, while hydrodermabrasion is the gentlest when you want cleansing and hydration together.
Does it hurt?
Deep classic cleansing has moments that sting, especially on the nose. Hydrodermabrasion and ultrasound are painless. Tell us if something bothers you and we change technique.
Can I put on make-up afterwards?
Not on the same day. The pores are open and the skin is irritated. From the next day there is no problem.
Will it bring out spots?
It may, especially the first time and on skin that has not been cleansed for a long time. It is a reaction of the first few days and it subsides. If it persists, tell us.
Does it treat acne?
No. Acne is a medical matter and needs a dermatologist. Cleansing improves the appearance and helps as a complement; it does not replace treatment.
How often should I have it?
On oily skin every 2 to 3 months, on normal or dry skin 1 to 2 times a year, usually at the change of seasons. These are indicative and are adapted to your own skin.
