What wax does that a razor does not

A razor cuts the hair at the surface of the skin. Wax pulls it out whole from the root, and that is why the result lasts 3 to 6 weeks instead of two days.

There is a second gain that is not obvious straight away: the dead cells of the epidermis come away along with the hairs. The skin is left softer than any other method leaves it.

Hot or cold wax?

You do not choose — the area does. In your session we explain which one we use and why.

  • ✓Hot wax — is spread over the area and "embraces" the hair as it cools. It is removed without a strip, with far less strain on the skin. We prefer it for bikini, underarms and face.
  • ✓Cold wax — comes ready on a strip. It is fast and efficient on large, resilient surfaces such as the legs.

What you gain and what you should know

Waxing is not painless and it is not permanent. We would rather you heard it from us than discovered it in the chair.

  • ✓Weaker hair — over time the hair grows back finer and sparser, because the follicle is stressed with every removal.
  • ✓Affordable cost — per session it is clearly cheaper than laser.
  • ✓Pain — it exists, especially the first few times and on sensitive spots. It decreases noticeably as the skin gets used to it.
  • ✓Irritation — redness for an hour or two is normal. On sensitive skin small spots may also appear.
  • ✓Waiting — for the next time the hair has to have reached at least half a centimetre. It cannot be done sooner.

How to come and what to do afterwards

  1. Exfoliation 1–2 days before

A gentle exfoliation clears the path of the hair and drastically reduces ingrown hairs.

  2. Clean, dry skin

No creams, oils or sunscreen on the day of the session. Wax does not "grip" on oily skin.

  3. Immediately afterwards

We apply a special moisturiser that removes the residue and calms the area.

  4. For the first 24 hours

Avoid the sun, hot baths, the sauna and vigorous rubbing.

Wax or laser?

It is the question we hear most often, and the answer is not a sales pitch. Wax solves the problem today; laser solves it for good.

If you want an immediate result for a trip or a night out, or if you are trying it for the first time, wax does exactly its job. If you are tired of repeating it every month for years, then it is worth looking at laser together — and working out the cost over time, not per session.

One thing that does not combine

If you are already having laser or are thinking of starting, wax comes out of the programme. Laser targets the root of the hair — if you have just pulled it out with wax, there is no target.

In the intervals between laser sessions the only permitted method is shaving. Tell us what you did and when, and we plan accordingly.

Questions & Answers

What most people ask, answered briefly and clearly.

How long does the result last?

From 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the area and the growth rate of your own hair. On the legs it usually lasts longer than on the face.

Does it hurt a lot?

The first time is the most intense. The skin gets used to it and the hair weakens, so every following time is noticeably milder. On sensitive spots we use hot wax, which is clearly more tolerable.

Can I wax between laser sessions?

No. Laser needs the root of the hair in place in order to work. In between you shave — never wax, tweezers or threading.

How long does the hair have to be?

At least half a centimetre. Shorter than that the wax cannot grip it and the result comes out incomplete.

Why do spots appear afterwards?

It is a reaction of the follicle to the removal and it settles on its own. Exfoliation before and moisturising afterwards reduce it a great deal. If it persists, tell us so we can change technique or products.
