An impressive amount of misinformation circulates around laser hair removal. We took the 10 most persistent myths and set them against the data — and the truth wins.
The 10 myths — and the truth
- "It hurts unbearably": a momentary sting with heat, softened by cooling — the tears are for the movies.
- "It burns the skin": with the right settings, the light is absorbed by the hair — not by the skin.
- "It causes cancer": non-ionising radiation, fundamentally different from UV and X-rays.
- "It is not permanent": destroyed follicles do not produce hair again; we are talking about permanent reduction of 80–90%+.
- "It is only for women": almost half of our clients are men.
- "It works on any hair": no — blonde, grey and red hair do not have enough melanin.
- "It is forbidden in summer": it is done as normal — with our system, staying in the sun is not a contraindication.
- "More hair grows afterwards": the temporary "pseudo-thickening" is hair being shed — not new hair.
- "All machines are the same": technology, servicing and the operator make an enormous difference.
- "It is unaffordably expensive": work out what you spend on wax and razors over 10 years — laser wins.
Why the myths persist
Most of them were born in the era of older technology or out of bad experiences in places without strict protocols. The answer is always the same: an assessment by trained staff, honest answers and certified equipment.
